Before I begin, I have a message from Brett Favre to ESPN...
"Tell me how my ass taste." Now, for reactions, lets go to Wendi Nix at Favre's home, Sal Palantonio at Packer camp, and Chris Berman up Brett's asshole.
Don't get me wrong, Brett Favre has been a joy to watch over the past 16 seasons, but enough is enough. Why should ESPN have a "Favre" section on it's scrolling ticker? Why do we need to know what Brett is doing at all times? Do we need to know what Tiger Woods thinks of this situation? We don't. In fact, I rushed home to see what ESPN was saying about the Angels aquiring the (up until then) price of the trade deadline Mark Teixeira, and all I saw was report upon report of Favre thinking about reinstating. Ridiculous. And what I can't figure out either is everybody is all over Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson for running Favre out of town. Well, excuse me, but didn't Favre kind of abandon the Pack when he retired? Green Bay chose to move on with Aaron Rodgers, and that's that. And poor Aaron Rodgers, he needs to play like Tom Brady to scathe off the Cheeseheads. Can you imagine what is going to happen if he get's hurt? But personally, I agree with McCarthy and Thompson.
As for Favre... I was too young to fully understand the Montana to Kansas City deal, but I'm sure it was somewhat like this. And it's a shame. Favre can take the Jets to, and win, the Super Bowl, but he will never be a Jet to me. His career ended that night in January when his last pass was intercepted, ending what would have been a real storybook ending. But the fact of the matter is for the last three years Favre has played this cat and mouse, should I stay or should I go now game with Green Bay, and it's gotten tiring. There's no doubt that Brett can still play, and there's no doubt that Green Bay would have welcomed him with open arms for the '08 season. Unfortuately Favre, and not Thompson, did not handle this in the way he should have.
And that will be the last time Brett Favre recieves any attention from me for at least a month. Mark it down.
I am, however, rooting for Aaron Rodgers... this coming from a 49ers fan.
So today I finalized my deal for my new 2005 (gosh that sounds weird to say) Honda Civic Ex Special Edition (from here on out it will referred to as the Millennium Falcon.) Now I know you're thinking "Matt, didn't you purchase that car a month ago?" Well, yes I did, but the wonderful Finance department at Honda Cars of Corona sure like to keep things interesting. See, even though I made the purchase, and was approved for a loan without a co-signer (that in itself is another 2,000 word story) the Honda financial lenders sure didn't like me. And I can't blame them, I'm a 22 (21 at the time) year old kid who had a good credit score almost by default, as I had very little credit. Well after many, many phone calls, and three different Honda financial agents, today we ended the situation and I ended up with $3,000 less than the original sales price. Yay me!!!
Also about a week ago I realized I'm not in the best shape I could be in. So I'm starting the "Get Matt in Shape" initiative. This will include the following:
1. Better eating: working five days a week makes fast food very, very attractive. Especially Los Primos... damn their carne asada burritos and tortas. So today I went out and bought lunch for the next week, which includes pre-made salads (chinese chicken salads = love,) various lunch meats including fat free turkey and roast beef, and little snacks like carrots, oranges and apple slices. Oh, and celery and peanut butter, which are delicious. Plus, this should save me a bit of money. Its a win-win-win.
2. More excercising: I have a hard time working out..it's just boring to me. So what i did was this: We have an excersize bike in the house that nobody uses, so I moved it into my room, where there's a tv and dvd player. Now I can watch The Office, or Juno, or South Park, while I burn precious calories and fat. Along with that, I accompany my Mother on walks with the dog, and am trying to set up weekly baseball and soccer games.
3. Better sleeping: For better overall health, I'm trying to get at least 7 hours of sleep in a day. I'd say I average about 6, which isn't that great. It's kind of a no-brainer if you ask me. At the very least, I'll feel better about myself...
... I'll post updates about this as time goes on...
Well, my bed is calling me... goodnight world
